Updated 6682 and now can't use Software I purchased

I bought some licenses for S60 software (eggtimer) and when I updated the firmware on my 6682 it lost the licenses. I've emailed the software companies but have gotten no response whatsoever. How is one supposed to backup and safeguard purchased software for s60 phones? thanks .
 
most purchased software is activated based on the IMEI of the phone, which should not have changed since you updated. Did you unbrand it when you updated it?
 
no, I didn't unbrand. it was an unbranded 6682 and I just updated the firmware. I think the original software got registered via wap. so now when I install it's no longer registered. seriously, companies that market software products for mobile devices have to get it together re this. who would buy software for their laptop if they couldn't reinstall if after updating the operating system? jeeeesh.
