i have had a endoscope done, what i am still waiting on the results from, and i have had a stool test which cam back positive for h plori, so i have been told to take 40 mg of omeprazole for 8 weeks

Why did you get tested for hpylori did tou have symptoms before the test. If so please tell me. I might get tested as well.

Thanks

i had been suffering from a bloated stomach, excessive gas, chest pain, sometimes a tight throat from over a month

ok i finished my omeprazole a while ago and it seemed like my stomach had settled but this week in started up again, i had burning pains in my stomach and chest pains, so i went back to the doctors and see a different doctor this time and he checked through my file and said i see you have h pylori, and you havent been treated for it so he has put me on a course of 2 different antibiotics, and some more omeprazole for 7 days, i am hoping this will put a end to it as i am feeling terrible at the moment :(

Hi, I was on Omeprazole, and it gave me a gassy, bloated, sometimes unbearable feeling in my stomach. I have no heart burn (occasionally) and burning in throat, with pain. He just put me on Pepcid 40mg twice a day.. It's not as bad to deal with. Maybe I should check to see if I have H Pylori

Last year I had the discomfort you are describing for 3 months during the summer. It was horrible. Finally it went away on it's own.

This is a common problem for those who quit omeprazole and other PPIs: Rebound acid production

It is very difficult to quit PPIs because of that. It is best to quit gradually by tapering off or substituting an H2RA (H2 blocker such as famotidine) and then taper off.

I wouldn't call it a "withdrawal syndrome", but acid rebound is not necessarily indicative of a disease process. It's most likely caused by abrupt discontinuation of a PPI. The same thing to a lesser extent occurs when one quits taking H2 blockers abruptly.
