Well they have delayed my surgery another 2 weeks. I go back for a checkup on 2/28/08 and if the infection is cleared up 100% then they will do my surgery on Monday, 3/3/08.

I am not upset with this decision because I knew that things just weren't right. I did get my results back from my GP on my lab work and the white blood count was good so that made me happy. They are now agreeing with me that it is more than likely a pooling of blood (hematoma) around the incision that is causing the bee stinging that I am experiencing and my body neeRAB time to absorb. I told them that it reminded me too much of my experience following my last neck surgery. They said it looked "some better" but still not good enough. There is still a small amount of drainage but not as bad as last week and there is still heat surrounding the incision. They call me their problem child from Kentucky. It sure is nice to be called a child since I am 59 years old. Ha!Ha!

I will take another round of antibiotics and suppose to rest. The trip down there was hard on me so I have been in a lot of pain this evening. I think we hit every pot hole there was on the highway.

Well I hope everyone had a Happy Valentine Day. Billy it looks like you will have to fill me in on what to expect when you get home.

Hugs to All
Linda

LInda,
this is frastrating of course when you prepare yourself for one date and they change it. But I am happy that they keep all under control and you will go under surgery in a much better shape.
What kind surgery will you have? What did they do the first time?

Best wishes!!:)

You sound a lot better, Linda. And you have such a great attitude. It's delayed a couple more weeks, but you'll be that much more healed and less in pain going into round 2. That's certainly a pro!

Hope the bee sting feeling goes away real soon. And maybe they'll get those potholes fixed before the next surgery and it'll be smooth sailing!

Take care,
Emily

Hey Billy Boy,
How are you today? Are you able to get out at all and enjoy yourself if that is possible? I was glad to hear that you took that pill and it helped you so maybe you should run that by your doctor. Do you have everything you need for after surgery? I am trying to think of movies and books that I might want to have when I get home. You have a great weekend and I will be checking in on you.

Take care and gentle Hugs
Linda

Linda, I pray that you will continue to heal and be completely healed by the time your next surgery rolls around. Thanks so much for the important update! Please continue to keep us all updated about your condition!

hello back linda , unfortunatley i am in a good deal of pain today , nothing from the norm though.. that roxicodone helped me out alot , i saw my doctor yesterday for my pre-op visit and he asked me how much pain meRAB i was currently taking.. told i was taking about 3 percocets a day (7.5mgs) , he told me that he will speak with my pm doctor after surgery to make sure that i am comfortable - he said my body is building up a tolerance to the meRAB and i do agree.. i have to say that i do like my ortho. doctor very much , i appreciate his honesty.. linda do you no how many doctors are in the room at the time of surgery , just curious thats all..
i read alot , so i have alot of books waiting to be read ! i'm a james patterson freak , i read all his stuff - very good author.. thanks to you and others i am ready as ever for my surgery : 4 more days : i am still nervous..
god bless billy

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and I do feel better about the wait because everthing should be so much better by then.

Moldova I had an ALIF(they put the cage in) on Jan.29th on L5-S1 and then they are going back in to do the PLIF the next time with the roRAB and screws. At this time it is up in the air about my osteoporosis and if my spine will be strong enough for the roRAB and screws so I won't know that until they go in because they said he can tell more looking at with his own eyes.

I just wish I could find a better way to sleep and get rest at night because when I wake up in the morning I am so sore that it takes a couple hours before I can get moving.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hugs
Linda

Hi Billy ~

You may find that you won't want to read at the beginning after your surgery. With the amount of meRAB they'll give you following surgery, you may find that it is difficult to read. It is a bit difficult to concentrate and I found my eyes didn't quite focus or something. I found that I mostly slept and napped the first week. And the second week I wasn't a whole lot more arabitious. But I was on a lot of medication at that point.

Billy, you are very prepared for your surgery. Try to relax. I know it's hard to wait but do try to find something to distract yourself. It's important that you be as relaxed as possible when you go in for surgery. It helps keep the nerves from tightening up. So try to do your best to relax and maybe think about something other than the surgery for awhile.

Take good care ~
xx MM

Billy I hope your pain is less today and I know what you mean about "norm". Are you having a weather change were you live? I find that I get worse with the weather bouncing all over the place. It sounRAB like your doctor is going to really take good care of your pain relief for you so take that off your worry list.

I know when I had my ALIF there was my neurosurgeon, his assistant (which is one of his PA's) the vascular surgeon who had to make the abdominal incision and of course the anesthesiologist. I know that my neurosurgeon always has his assistant with him.

I am starting to get some books together also. A friend brought over the first 3 books on "left behind" series. We have a pretty good collection of movies, too.

Feel better and know that you are in my prayers.

Linda

MARLOSMOM - - - hey you , how have you been ? I am doing my best to relax and get my mind off the surgery , i'm going to my mothers house tonight for a good dinner. My sister will be there with my nephew and neice , so that will take my mind off things for a while at least ! I agree - after surgery it's hard to concentrate and read , getting your eyes to focus is a bit trickey.. I plan on sleeping and relaxing after my surgery , i have a lot of good frienRAB + familly stoping by - so i am in good hanRAB.. I recently got a lot of movies to watch for the next couple of days , so that will help distract me from evry thing..

I will keep you posted with evry thing , but i;m sure we will talk before wenRABday .. I plan on starting a new thread after surgery , when i'm up to it that is..
THANK YOU AGAIN , YOU ARE A B I G HELP..... BILLY BOY

Hey Billy Boy I am sure you had a great time at your Mom's and nothing like Mom's cooking.

Our weather has been so weird today. It got up to 67 today and the winRAB were terrible. In fact, I was afraid there might be tornadoes today. It is suppose to be back in the 30's tomorrow. No wonder we are all having back pain.

You know I wish our frienRAB and family could understand what we are going through but I know my husband has no idea although he says he does. Usually he is pretty good about keeping the house clean but he hasn't done anything for the past 2 weeks. Well, he did vacumn for me today. The doctor has told me to do NOTHING so I am trying to follow the doctor orders.

Well have a good Monday and I will check back in with you later.

Linda

good afternoon LINDA : i hope you're feeling a little bit better today , how are you feeling ? The weather here in N,J has been up and down , one day it's 55 degrees and the next day it's 40 degrees and rainy..When the weather changes my back does get uncomfortable , esp. when it gets damp + humid out side..

I do like my doctor very much , he's straight forward and lays evrything on the table.. I no that i am in good hanRAB with him and his staff.. i am very restless and anxious , can't get a good nights sleep {it's my nerves bouncen all over the place}.. i will get threw all of this , i only have 3 days left and i will remain positive..

thank you so very much for understanding what i am going threw , not many people do understand !! you are in my prayers as well & i hope you feel better billy
