Last night I posted worried because some jerk dropped off a puppy at our Pit bull sanctuary and she had really weird peanut butter-like stools. We called our vet at 11:30 at night (with our rescues she's used to late calls) and she stated to watch the pup and bring her in early. Well, turns out she was infested with parasites and Coccidia. She also had a deep untreated puncture wound below her eye. She's only about 7 weeks old. A beautiful blue brindle. The guy calls us up today and we tried to get background on the pup. He said she was "game" and food aggressive so his male (her future husband) bit her face to calm her down. Also he was feeding her Eukanuba Small Breed Puppy because the higher protein would build her up. He called a little while ago, says he might want her back 'cause he paid so much for her. We called up our vet and following her advice went to Animal Control and filed a report including a vet statement about the condition of the pup. We are a registered non-profit, no kill shelter so we were told that he gave her up and we have no legal obligation to give her back. My husband wants to pay the guy so he'll just to away. I am not giving this baby back to that beast. Does anyone think we are being hard on this guy? Should we give him something for her? We've placed rescue dogs in therapy programs and keep the ones that no one wants. So she will either stay with us or have a wonderful home.
