Well as you all know I am post op for my Fuision and now that I am 'cleared out' for the most part after being constapated for 9 days :O I figured I'd post you all for an update.

I am doing fairly well. Prior I was living off the cane as I could not put my leg down at all due to the severe nerve pains from all the pressure of not having a BM and from them irritating my nerve thru surgery, it actually put be back to painwise and bedridden to prior to my first surgery to start, that has for the most part set back some pain wise I am getting alittle better, even though I am still on 2 percocets ever 4 hrs and muscle relaxers, sleep pills and now a pred weaning pack for inflammation.

I still am using my toilet riser, got that and that cane at the local drug store- a MUST HAVE.
My shower chair is on it's way in the mail as we speak.

I can't shower on my own yet as I can't keep my arms above my head much of anything or stand the length it takes to have a shower, and I can't do anything around the house for more than 10 minutes with a grippy stick AND cane, so I am still completely useless here to be honest, I hate that part.

Can't by any means load or unload the dishwasher and I have been homebound fully as I am up 4 flights of steps to the outside world and can't go down them as of yet got the windows open for some sanity and nice fresh air.

Cant lift a gallon of milk unless it's 3/4 empty but I can make coffee LOL

What I CAN do :)
I can brush my teeth lol got an electric tootrabroadrush makes it easier
I can get dressed (no socks) sometimes I use the grippy stick
I can get out of bed finally LOG ROLL -I forgot and didn't this morning and PAID DEARLY
I can microwave a meal lol can't stand long enough to cook but, maybe next week
I sleep about 4 hrs straight in the night time before I wake for a pain pill
I can make 1 trip there and back to the kitchen without my cane
My incision of 5" is healing nicely and already scabbing over, and my drainage spot looks better and not red anymore.

My first 'shower' was standing with a big towel wrapped around me infront of the sink while my mom poured water on my head, shampood and rinsed, and then I washed down with a washcloth and got changed. She blew dry my hair while I sat on the toilet and I paid DEARLY for being upright that long OUCH! That was 5 days post op

SO I am not so bad I dont think! Not too bad for 10 days post op right? I haveto live on the pain killers, I can't not, once it starts back there it clirabs down my hip and but to down my leg, so I kill it off once it starts to crawl down my leg. Sometimes I take an extra half- I just haveto, it's unbearable. My left foot goes nurab alot.

My bed is too hard now, so much for firm all these years, so I got a memory foam topper that looks like an egg crate and now I can sleep some and not get the pressure points in my hip and back.

I go next wed for my 2 week post op appt w/ my surgeon. I guess he's going to xray me to see how it looks????? He said he put some sort of protien in my back along w/ my own bone he used (not off my hip but off the tip of the vertrabrae) so I read that helps u fuse faster in studies- 4-6 months instead of 12 supposedly.

I've only had one BM, so my stomach is still distended some, I am using miralax every morning but nothing new going on there, I can't weigh myself to see if I am still losing weight (I am up almost 20 lbs since I got hurt 6 mos ago, so been trying to taper some off) . My SO is coming over today to help me shower and SHAVE MY LEGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY I CAN'T WAIT TO HAVE CLEAN SHAVEN LEGS!!!!!!!!! :p I am sure I am going to pay dearly in pain for being clean but whatayagonna do.

It's the little things in life right? I know I am going to pay dearly after the car ride to the dr on Wed, I always do, the car ride always from bouncing around bedbounRAB me, not that for the most part I am 90% in bed still, I can sit for dinner or lunch in the dining room for 15 mins or so to eat, that's it. I am unable to be on my feet any longer than that but my GAIT has IMPROVED in the slightest, I get a normal stride for about 1 trip down my hall, it's the first time in 6 months I get non -quasimoto it's so EXCITING I thought I was permanently like that and now I have hope I may not be!!!! I am so excited.

I want to ride my SO motorcycle in the summer for my birthday, even if just around the culdesack, I want to know I CAN and have not lost one of my most favorite past times, riding. We've been wondering when we could have sex (lmao NOT now), and are going to ask the surgeon next week how that goes about and whens a good time to start to try depending on my back. Just want the green light for the opportunity to try, I'm in NO RUSH OMG lol couldn't imagine that yet.

I do walk with my neck foward and my shoulders rolled foward I am told, so I am trying to be conscious to not do that but not so easy and I don't know I'm doing it really.
And thats it!!
thank you to everyone who has helped me so much through this whole ordeal you have all been such a trememdous help in getting through this between the reherniation and now my 2nd surgery being a fusion YOU ARE ALL THE BEST! HUGGIES!!

Hey Rose!

It sounRAB like you are making a few improvements! I am glad to hear that.
I would strongly recommend and enema. It will clean you out really good. I did one the morning I had my daughter (by myself 9 months pregnant), and I didn't even go poo poo on the delivery table, even though it took me 2 hours to push her out.
2.5 weeks until my surgery and I am scared. I am getting more scared with each day. I am so afraid of the pain. My friend had a baby Tuesday in the same hospital as my surgery, and when I was in there, I kept getting this eerie feeling. Like this is the place I will be mutilated. LOL!
Keep posting about your progress! I am thinking about you!

Ohh megg I hear you, I was ready to cancel a few days prior I was so scared. BUT you do haveto remeraber when seeing how I am doing that I was bedridden from an immediate injury with 2 blown discs, and not given surgery until 2 months later, reherniated larger on one of the 2 discs and am now for the first time with a free nerve back there. My body has atrophied, I can't goto stores, and I have not driven in 6 months. I am so much more in shape for this surgery (if you call it that, it usedto take me 15 minutes for 4 flights of steps and I'd be winded more than my grammy), and you are younger too and more mobile even prior to surgery.

I am thinking about the enema eeekkkk like I haven't gone thru enough? lol
I am giving the miralax until tomorrow and if not- then I gotta do that. egaRAB.
If it aint my back or unable to urinte- I cant poo- I give up.

It's just easier looking at how many thinngs you try to do that hurt you and that after surgery you'll be able to DO them, pain free and better. Immediately after surgery you'll be hooked upto an IV line with a sweet little button to deliver heaven in an instant, and you get to lay in bed for like 2 days before they even bug you. My nurse was a sweetehart and propped pillows for me so I could be on my side and such. I have recovered SOOOO much better this time around than when I reherniated immediately after surgery, even thou this is a bigger surgery, I am less in pain, even thou its there, and now I have it for the most part under control so that is a good thing.
