Unusual End Credits On Goldfinger On Sky Movies

I watched Goldfinger in HD last night on Anytime planner which is part of Sky's Bond HD season. I noticed something very unusual about the end credits. It says "James Bond will return On Her Majestys Secret Service". Now we know that the next film in the series was Thunderball. I think Bond fans will also know that On Her Majestys Secret Service was originally going to be the follow up to Goldfinger but I think they went with Thunderball due to the dispute with kevin mcClory.

I have seen Goldfinger dozens of times over the years at the cinema, on ITV, on video and dvd but it has always said "James Bond will return in Thunderball". I have never seen it say this before. So have Sky got hold of a rare early print of the film or something like that?

imdb lists this under alternate versions:

On the original UK release, the end credits indicated that Bond would return On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

Dunno about that but it's a ropey one. It obviously hasn't digitally cleaned going by all the glitches in it!

The DVD says Thunderball.

By pure coincidence I just mentioned that on the Moonraker post- now you've made me look a liar.

Indeed - as the post above says - OHMSS was the intended next film at the time of Goldfingers release.

The recent restorations were done from the original negatives so that must still say OHMSS - but it does not explain why the Ultimate Edition dvd still said Thunderball.

I'm getting the Bluray in March and I must admit I would prefer it to say Thunderball but this makes it look like it wont

The HD version is the Lowry restoration where they accessed the original negatives so it should be as perfect as Dr No
