Unlocking Z500a

Hi, I'm new here

My friend just gave me his Z500 because he got a new phone, but the phone is locked to either his simcard or to his service provider. Can I get any help unlocking this thing, and do I need a data cable or can I just push a number code into it?
 
hi there. Unless you want to call up your service provider and try to sweet talk an unlock code out of them you best choice is to unlock the phone with a DSC-11 Unlock cable and 1 total server credit.

You can also unbrand the phone with this software but it would require a 2nd credit. it's well worth getting rid of the cingular branding in my opinion.
