Unlocking Nokia N97 Mini, What changes are made to the phone? Is it reversible?

Asides from being able to use the phone with any provider, are there any other changes made to the phone and/or contract? e.g. voided warranty, contract termination?

Is unlocking a 3 (aka Hutchison Telecoms) Nokia N97 Mini reversible?
