Unlocking AT&T Phone to work on T-Mobile?

My friend gave me his LG VU (cu920) and it works for AT&T.
I need to know if there is a FREE way to unlock the phone so it
works on all GSM networks, like T-Mobile??

Any shortcuts, and tips would help.
