Unlocked phones on eBay?

My phone is completely broken and i'm stuck with my company (GCI....Alaska) in a contract until May 2012. I have a SimCard, If I just get an "unlocked" phone from eBay will it take my GCI SimCard? Even if it's an "unlocked" AT&T phone? If not...What should I do or look for? The cheapest phone GCI has is like $200 and i'm only stuck with them for 8 more months.
