Unlocked iphone 2g for 100$?

Recently i bought an iPhone 2g that was unlocked so it could be used for anything. In addition you don't need a data plan for an iPhone 2g because it has edge and att gives you the option to get it or not. its 100% functional, there are some minor scratches on the back. Also, it has the latest firmware and everything works nicely. However, I still wonder who got the better out of the trade? While I got the iphone 2g as well as the charger, he got 100$.

Please explain in detail whether it was a wise decision
