Unlocked Curve keeps switching to ATT Network?

I recently unlocked a Blackberry 8310 (obviously an AT&T phone previously) for use with my T-Mobile. It's been great so far. But last night I went to a basketball game with some friends and while I was sitting in the bleachers, I noticed it said "SOS" at the top right. When I looked under "Mobile Connections", it said it was connected to the AT&T Network. I tried to delete AT&T from my "Preferred Network List" but it was still connecting to it and not T-Mobile, so I wasn't getting any texts or calls. My friend sitting next to me on her Dash was getting great reception. I mention this because she was trying to text me but I wasn't getting anything. So what's wrong?

Also see whether T-Mobile has a mutual networking agreement with AT&T [they do, after all, when it comes to Starbucks WiFi] and the latter is seeing you as still its own customer - ?!

I actually kind of have that same problem. Everytime I go snowboarding, there are certain parts of the drive up where I don't get service. It goes "searching for network" and then it connects to AT&T. However, all my stuff works perfectly fine while I'm on the AT&T network. SMS, phone, bbm, and viigo.
