Unlock Telus Phone for Verizon Prepaid?

I have a Telus Samsung Advance phone (locked). I would like to use it as a verizon prepaid phone (I already have an account) when I am in the states. Is there any way I can do this?

I know Verizon can, because I've done it with an AT&T phone before. But thank you.
