I heard Cingular gives for free the unlocking codes.

Does Anyone knows is this is true? and if it is, how can I ask it thru internet? because im far away from home right now and want to really use my bb

They may have the codes but generally WILL NOT provide them to you.

The word "unlock code" to them means the loss of a customer.
 
I had an ATT tilt I bought off of someone 6 months ago. I called ATT (611) and said I was going to travel in Europe and wanted to unlock the phone. Within 2 minutes that gave me the code. It's easier if you have the IMEI already written down when you call.
