University & desktop replacement - HP ProBook 5310m or Pavilion dm3?

I need a laptop under $1000 CAD for Microsoft Office programs, internet, streaming, and moderate/frequent video and image processing. It'll be for uni, but will also permanently replace my desktop computer. I'm choosing between the 2 HP ones here (unless someone can suggest a better solution): news.cnet.com/8301-13924_3-10366950-64.h t m l (remove spaces)
I really, really want that aluminum case and a medium-sized LED screen. Battery life and portability aren't that important to me unless they are something to be frustrated at.

The ProBook has either:
Intel Core 2 Duo SP9300 (2.26 GHz, 6 MB L2 cache, 1066 MHz FSB) $899 USD
or
Intel Celeron SU2300 (1.20 GHz, 1 MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB)
$699 USD

The Core 2 Duo seems a bit too high-end and expensive but the Celeron looks too weak as well.

The dm3 has Intel Pentium SU4100 for $649 USD, but again, I'm not sure if it's too weak to be my primary computer.

Can someone help me choose the laptop (& processor) best for me?
