First of all, you should know that in Canada "college" is what you would call "community college". Usually only universities offer 4 year bachelor degrees, Masters degrees, etc.
The closest to NY would be Brock University. It's in the city of St. Catharines, only about 15 minutes form the border at Niagara. And it's my school

It's not all that presitigious, but prestige doesn't mean quite as much in Canada (like, we don't have Ivy League schools or anything).
University of Toronto is probably the best school in Canada, or one of the best. It's in downtown Toronto, which is a little over an hour from the border at Niagara. York U and Ryerson U are both respectable, and are also in Toronto.
U of Waterloo is another very good one, but that's probably an hour and a half from the border.
Other than those, you'd be looking at schools in Montreal (not near the border by any means), or University of British Columbia which is one of the best, but it's in British Columbia which is on the other side of the country lol.
