'United 93' versus 'World Trade Center'

Having just read 'Last Man Down' about a fireman's experience in the collapse of the North Tower World Trade Center at 9/11 all this stuff is on my mind.

I thnk 'United 93' is a far superior film to 'World Trade Center'.

'United 93' has an almost documentary, all inclusive style where you feel you yourself could have been one of the passengers on the ill fated jet. Its real. It also highlights the confusion at the time really well and also the mad fanaticism of the highjackers. From the onset there is a feeling of impending doom.

'World Trade Center' tries to personalize events by highlighting just a few stories, the central bit with the men trapped in the rubble is too long, it seeks to make a melodrama out of something that was dramatic enough in its own right and thereby diminishes it - makes it fall flat.

I wondered what anyone else thinks who has seen both films.
 
United 93 is most definitely the better film, I could barely make myself sit through all of world trade centre it had bad acting especially from Nicolas Cage and was completely boring to me
 
United 93 is seriously one of the best, and most powerful, films ive ever seen. World Trade Centre shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence imo (i.e. its crap).
 
United 93 definitely, that movie was so tense, really upsetting, I think I cried all the way through it.

World Trade Center on the other hand...wasn't as effective.
 
yes i'd agree united 93 is the better of the two,world trade is fairly average.
United 93 i'd watch for a second or third time as it really got me thinking,and wrapped up in the emotion of the characters,world trade i wouldn't watch again,it's not one of Oliver stone's best films,i've only just noticed he directed the film "Savior" about the war in bosnia,the quality of these two films is like night and day."Savior" is a brilliant film.
I also like nicholas cage as an actor but not in world trade.
 
United 93 is one of those films that after watching you just need to stop and be quiet. It's that powerful and emotional.

It's also a very good film. I haven't seen WTC but the fact that Nicholas Cage is in it is enough for me to not be interested in it :cool:
 
I agree, United 93 is a very powerful film. The image I can't get out of my mine when I think of it is the man at the beginning running to get on the plane and nearly missing it.

Heartbreaking.
 
I thought that WTC was too americanised and very one sided. United 93 is more realistic and is not biased in any way. Paul Greengrass did an excellent job of using a mixer of unknown actors and people who were during the actually event were working in for the ATC (Air Traffic Control). After watching it I felt very upset that people could do such a thing.

As part of the extras their is a bit were the acutally families meet the actors who were players their family members in the film which I found also very moving.
