Hello,
I have a pinched nerve in my back between the 4th & 5th vertebrae and for the last 3 years, I've been on muscle relaxers and pain medication with moderate results. For the past 4 months, the pain has gotten so severe in my inner left thigh and buttocks that I can hardly walk or stand and I am starting to walk with a limp.
Each step I take is extremely painful and I can't sit or sleep without the constant reminder of pain. I am a very active person, do a lot of volunteer work and this problem is causing me to not be as effective as I once was or it is destroying my confidence just to merely walk. I am very unhappy and really need to take care of this problem.
I lost my job 6 months ago and along with job hunting, I've trying to deal with this problem. I have a very important interview coming up in about a week, so I need to address my problem quickly. The next step for me is to get a steriod injection, but w/o insurance and very little money, I don't know where to turn. I really need this job and I would hate if symptons from this pinched nerve would cause me to lose a chance to go back to work. I am behind in everything and since I was a independent contractor, I don't quality for unemployment insurance. Please help me if you can direct me to a study or a Physician. who is willing to do pro bono work or will defer the payments for the treatment. I live on the southside of Chicago, close to U of C, but I will travel anywhere I can get some assistance. Thank you for any advice you can give me.
