Unfortunately, I joined the club...broken fairing bracket

Tore mine apart last night, took about an hour to get the brackets out, welded and painted them today and installed em tonight. Two things come to mind 1. They are cheapley made, beefed them up a bit. 2. Damn things were broke when I bought the bike. I cant believe how solid the fairing seems now.

Just fixed/ replaced 2 uppers and 2 speaker brackets a couple weeks ago.

I actually purchased the 2 speaker brackets from the dealer. $10 a piece. These were redesigned from the ones I had and are much beefier.

The Upper brackets were like 55 or 60 bucks a piece. I did not buy these. I had 2 L brackets from Lowe's. About an hour with a cut-off wheel and bench grinder resulted in 2 perfectly fit brackets. I also painted black to fight of rust and to match existing brackets. I let these dry overnight. Next day I drilled 2 holes on one leg and one on the other. used existing screw to attach to fairing and 2 bolts to attache to original bracket. Used lock washers and blue thread goop.

Fixed both uppers for 6 bucks and 10x stronger than the original. Fixed all 4 brackets for $26 plus tax.

Cant beat that. I do not own a welder...so I bolted the new bracket in. Still - not going anywhere.

I just found a solution. Dennis at http://www.bagger-parts.com/Harley_Fairing_Repair_Kit.html has made a permenant solution. You get a pair and the problem will be solved. He states you can even install it on unbroken brackets. I am having him next day ship me the repair kit. Just the time and effort I am saving is well worth this fix!

With this kit you do not have to remove the bracket and it a 10 minute plug and play solution!

Just replaced my speakers last weekend and the right was broken. So I went and bought both for $20. I never checked or saw anything obvious with any other bracket because I really didn't know. But I had that right side rattle and figured this was it. Well it is all together and still sort of rattles. Guess I will take the fairing off and check again

yeah, I never noticed the 2 uppers were broke until i grabbed he fairing and wiggled it. If you are straddling the front tire when you do this, you can pretty much look straight down and see the 90 degree bend of these brackets.

I have a 06Electra Glide. My fairing brackets broke at both ends and now i have no visual on my radio settings. This seems to be a common problem on these bikes.

Took my fairing off to do some wiring on lights and what do I find? Broken brackets 4 of them upper and speaker brackets, also 2 missing bolts on lower part of fairing under headlight!!! Who would know, thought it would never happen to me.
