I am also trying to make one out of billet to see if i can make it work....

I found a broken fairing bracket today while getting started on my chrome front end. A local friend/welder is going to weld it back together and make some "L" brackets to re-enforce the bend where the bolt goes into the fairing.
What a cheesy design IMHO. Hope it works!!!!

Yep, that's what I was thinking. Make a bracket and use a thick rubber washer as a dampner. Should cost less than $2.00!!!

I, too, am a club member. My 07 street glide is in shop for the 4TH TIME for broken fairing struts! Has 43,000 miles. I'm told the replacements are stronger than before.....we'll see. Extended warranty still in effect. 4 x $50 = $200.00 down the tubes plus missed riding time for a FACTORY DEFECT THAT THEY DAMN WELL ARE AWARE OF! Pisses me off. I don't know how Harley gets away w/ it. If this was a car, there would be recalls w/ no out of pocket expense. Still love my bike though.......

I own a 2009 Street Glide. Taking it back to the dealer March 19th. This will be the 2nd bracket that had broken in 11,000 miles. It is amazing that HD continues to charge for a part that is constantly breaking on Batwings. Might be another part from China for my American bike!
