I keep hearing from birthers that it doesn't matter if you're born in America, you have to be born to two US citizens in order to be a "natural-born citizen." OK, let's analyze this: Bob is an American and marries Sally, who is British. They have a son named Harold born in the USA while Sally is a resident alien, but not a citizen of the USA, so Harold is not a natural-born citizen as only one of his parents was a US citizen, natural born. Harold marries an American-born girl whose people have been here for generations, and they have a son named Benjamin, now Benjamin has been born to a natural-born citizen (his mother), but his father is not a "natural-born citizen" as he was born to a Brit and an American, so Benjamin is not a natural-born citizen. Benjamin marries Mary, and they have a daughter, Alice. Alice is born to Benjamin, who is not a natural-born citizen b/c of his mother, so she is not a natural-born citizen as only one of her parents is a natural-born citizen.....and so on and so on and so on. Now, I don't think that all birthers are so stringent in their requirements, but you'd have to be really lacking in intelligence to believe that one is not a natural-born citizen unless he is born in the USA to two citizens of the USA. If that were the standard, no one would be "natural-born." Now, I never said that all birthers are stupid, but any birther who does subscribe to the belief that that's how our law works, really is not helping his cause any as people do not take movements seriously if they are led by paranoiacs with no facts.
