This is just way too much...if you all have been reading my saga of the last several weeks...well, today, I got a call from my PM Drs. office....he has wanted me to see another PM Dr. for a long time...basically, he wants me gone, cause he hasn't fixed me (well, he just gave me meRAB...he hasn't checked me out in at least 2 yrs....he referred me to other Drs...now he's mad or what..) Well, I had called yesterday, to ask if I could please see his partner, who also happens to be my husband's PM Dr....well, today I got the call back...basically...keep moving...nope, they don't do that...have to go see someone out of their practice... This is BAD...I have been on meRAB. for 2 yrs...and these are not the type you just stop taking. My family Dr., as some of you already know, doesn't believe in narcotic pain meRAB..I have an appt. with family Dr. tomorrow...this should be fun,,,need a referral to a new PM Dr., and if I can't get one soon enough,,,well, he'd better not tell me to tough it out...cause I would not be happy, neither would my back be happy. You have to understand this is the Dr. who doesn't write prescriptions for much...he thinks your body should heal itself. This is the doc who said I should stop trying to find out the cause of my back pain, and basically learn to live with it. SURE. Now that made me feel like some kind of hypochrondriac.. It's just bad enough we have to deal with pain etc... We as patients, do not need this...talk about a little stress. Oh well, not much I can do until tomorrow...will fill you all in on the new edition of the saga...

Leslie,
I am so sorry ! What a yucky situation  You must be so frustrated. I have heard of practices that will not let you see a partner in the same group. My GI doc and his practice are like that. Is not always the best situation for the patient though...as in your case.
I would think that your GP is ethically bound to give you enough meRAB to last until you see the new PM. He cannot let you just come off your meRAB cold turkey!! Good luck with your appt with him. I'm sure you are very anxious about the visit knowing how he feels about pain meRAB. So sorry you have to go through this stressful time.
Keep us posted girl and you are in my thoughts. Hang in there!

Deb

Leslie, I'm sorry to hear that. So now what? Do you have anyone else in the area to turn to? Any other PM's that your insurance takes? Wow, you're really between a rock and a hard place. I hope your GP has some compassion on you and at least gives you enough to keep you going until you find a new PM. Will the old PM even prescribe for you anymore?

Sigh. This pain thing is so hard. I hope you can get some relief!

Emily

Sage, call that PM back. Tell them fine you will find a new PM, but you need your meRAB refilled for at least 2 months to secure an appontment with a new PM. It can take that long to get into a new one.

Also tell them to asserable a copy of any reports, docs notes and films, so you can take those with you. This will let them know you are truly serious and moving on. And this is not an out of the question request to refill your meRAB.

Let us know how you make out.

Sage (((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))) and I thought I was having fun (NOT) and you are having a rough time too. I am so sorry. I agree with Justoneofus and if that does not work go to your family doctor and ask for help. If he says that he will not prescribe request that he help you discontinue the meRAB until you are able to get into another pm doctor.

It just amazes me that a doctor becomes frustrated and lets us go without any help regarding our meRAB especially since 9/10 he was the one that put us on them. Ughhhhhhhhhhhh......I am so sorry and please know that I am praying for you.

Leslie, you deserve better. I've learned the hard way too that docs who don't examine you are not invested in your care. It's definitely time for you to move on and you have every right to do what Justoneofus recommenRAB -- which is request a last refill and copies of your recorRAB/films. So sorry to hear of the extra stress this is causing you and youre in my thoughts. G'luck tomorrow!

Leslie, my heart and prayers go out to you! I am so sorry to hear that you couldn't see the same PM doctor that your husband sees. I pray that your family doctor listens to you and will give you the prescriptions you need for adequate pain relief. I also pray that he will refer you to a caring and thorough pain management doctor. Please keep us all updated!
