Unable to sync

I was having some computer slow down problems. After bringing it in to my local fix it shop, they deleted some cookies, etc and it works fine. BUT... When I brought the computer home and tried to sync, a connection could not be established. Going to the Palm Desktop the tool bar did not highlight any areas under Hotsync so I could not check my settings.
I decided to reinstall my Palm software. After doing this I got error messages that it failed to open datebook,databases, address book, todo list and memo pad. I performed a sync and it seemed to go smoothly- updated Vindigo and Avantgo properly. However, the datebook, address book etc did not have any data on the desktop.
What do I do now?

It sounds like the fix-it shop deleted some important files. I'm hoping you have all the data you need on your Palm. Go to the hotsync icon and right clicl. Go to Custom and then set each PIM conduit for "Handhelds overwrites desktop". This should recreate the lost databases on your PC and allow you sync normally thereafter.
