UMSL in ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI: How did you like the university? How safe did you feel

it was? Strict dorm rules? My daughter is considering going here as a transfer student, but isn't sure she will meet as many people as you would at a smaller, private college, like Lindenwood in St. Charles. But Lindenwood's rules seem stricter from what we can tell, she is 21 and would like her boyfriend to be able to spend the night occassionally so he wouldn't have to drive home. Does UMSL allow this in any of their dorms or apartments? On the flip side, that would worry me as a mom to think random guys could spend the night, especially since UMSL is in an urban neighborhood. She may commute from further away too, if she does that though, do you think she'd meet any friends, guys, etc. since she probably wouldn't join too many groups on campus being a commuter and all. I'd hate for her to commute there, and all she gets is a degree but no fun college friends to meet, or fun college activities. I know it's up to her to make those connections and join those groups but if she commutes do you think in general that commuters miss out on all of that "college life?" If you went there, what did you like the best and what didn't you like about UMSL?
