UMA and 8900

I noticed today (this morning and then again when I got to work) that my UMA is not kicking in.

Anyone else seeing that today? I am new to UMA bb's so I'm not sure if this is common problem.

This could be an issue when I get home, as Tmo is a bit of a black hole (like all the other providers) at my home.

Thanks...

Do you have hotspot at home service? My UMA only works when i am within 20 ft of my router or if I leave the house, UMA will only work if there is a hotspot for wifi, like Starbucks. Otherwise i am on edge. Does that make sense?

I only have hotspot at home because when I am on UMA my calls are free. You don't need Hotspot to get UMA, just be near a router to get wifi

I've had UMA working w/o any problem until today (2/3 weeks between the 8900 and the 8320). Just today, at two different locations I get nothing. I am 15' from the AP.

It shows T-Mobile - (SSID) at the top of my 8900. The WIFI logo is not ghosted out. I have an IP address as dished out by the DHCP server. WIFI is set to preferred. If I change it to WIFI Only, I can get out to the Internet so I know the wifi is working. I can do a contact lookup (i'm on a BES server) and it hits my BES server... so I know everything from that point of view is fine (and I can send/receive email messages)

Still no UMA... no phone calls in/out (when set to WIFI only).

When I goto WIFI Diag's it gives me a green check box next to the "UMA WIFI Available" but a red x thru the "Connection" and I get an error code W006.1 and "ISP or T-Mobile Network Error" under Status.

This happened when I set up my husbands new Curve and I fixed it by re setting up the wifi connection and entered the wap code for my router. Also made sure that the tcp setting was on wap.voicestream.com and settings were on wifi preferred. After I reset the router connection, it worked.

What theme are you using? On the Bold, there was a problem with some missing icons on the precision silver theme. Just want to rule out that the theme is not missing the wifi/UMA signal icon.

UMA is working again... but none of the suggestions above worked.

I ended up doing a "wipe handheld" and as soon as it finished rebooting and after I re-added the AP info, UMA started right away.

After the OTA enterprise re-activation, everything is working fine again... including UMA.

I've got a call out to our Tmo rep, asking if they have seen similar issues with Corp lines and using UMA.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions.

Just an added piece of information:

I am having the same issue with my UMA and the only way that i could fix it was to take my sim card out of the 8900 and reinsert it into my 8320, set up the wi-fi connnection, aquire UMA, and then insert the sim back in my 8900. I can't make any sense of why that worked, but maybe that info will help some of you gurus out there figure out why this problem occurs.
