Ultra sd cards

Hello all,
i just bought my first palm, a T3, and i'm loving it - even without any extra media space. However, i'm looking to change that, and i was wondering what you all thought of sandisks "ultra" line of sd cards. Can the T3 take advantage of that high a transfer rate?(10 megs/sec read and 9 megs/sec write) I want to be able to listen to mp3s, watch movies etc. so i just wanted to know if the extra bucks is worth it.
Also, if any of you have a suggestion on a different manufacturer, please tell me.

Loving being in the world of Palm

Do a search for anything even "half related" to SD cards and you'll find a plethora of information all over the place here.

Debates have raged back and forth and there's a lot of material. Since this is your first post, allow me to introduce myself by being pushy and opinionated (ha ha ha !!) . . .

I love Panasonic. Period. Wouldn't use anything else. Especially SanDisk.

(That should get some responses going!)

Lexar use either Panasonic OR SanDisk and you don't know if you've got a pearl or a turd til you open the package. Panasonic boast REALLY HIGH read/write speeds. They're also (when I bought my SD256 2-3 months ago) around $10-20 more expensive. Well, you don't buy one every week and DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO, so personally I'd eat the "save $10" silliness.

I'll let you take a look around the threads on here . . . speeds are posted too, to give you an idea of what "fast" is relative to different brands. I think you'll find Panasonic to be SMOKIN.'

I like them because of dependabilty . . . had a 64MB SanDisk bite the dust after a week and that was it for me. Others have had problems with them as well.

Just my 2 cents - welcome!

I have not tried the Ultra brand of SanDisk cards, but from the VFS mark postings here, the Ultra cards do get much better performance than the normal versions. What that will amount to in actual use is a different matter, but the benchmarks do return better read/write times.

I have an Ultra and it's ok compared to the normal SanDisks. I prefer Panasonic.

I've never had a Panasonic card hic-cup the T3. The Ultra hic-cup'd the T3 one time before the patch came out last year. No issues other than that one glitch.

But given the hic-cup's I'll stay with Pansonic for current and future needs.

Since we are in the subject of SD cards.... can anyone tell me the difference between the sandisks? They seem to never give details about their cards in reference to speed
Well, I notice that there are two 1 GB Sd cards. The only difference that I manage to get was the sticker, and the price.
I am assuming there is a reliability and performance difference.
I have 3 sd cards 2-256 and 1-512 Ultra. I never had any problems with them. neither on my zire71 nor t-3. I did notice that the UltraII is better card.
Any info would be appreciated.
