Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 help?

i finished the storyline and im trying to finish the cursed doll fragment so i can fight killer bee and i notice that before i fight it gives me the option to choose who i fight with and who is gonna be my support but i dont have anyone following me so i was wondering how do i get people to follow me so i can use them in missions. i already tried talking to them in the village it doesnt help
