UK premier: Headcases

So, any UK TZ'ers catch ITV's new cartoon last night?

If not, then... well, you didn't miss much. Headcases is a sketch show about caricatured celebs and politicians in the vein of Spitting Image and 2DTV (only, this time, it's CGI), and it falls into pretty much every pitfall available for the genre. A couple of bits were mildly amusing (such as Harry and William ordering pheasant and caviar pizza), but most of it was... well. Victoria Beckham mispronouncing "E.T." does not up-to-the-minute satire make.

Best file this one away on the bland shelf, between I am not an Animal and Bromwell High. Ah well. On the plus side, the character animation is a bit more lively than Bromwell and 2DTV.

When the thread said Headcases, I immediately thought of the FOX show about insane lawyers that got cancelled after one episode a few years ago.

But, meh, the political climate right now is nowhere near as ripe as it was back in the days of Spitting Image, when there was a whole bunch of people practically begging to be satired on TV.

It seems that ITV has yet to get rid of the curse that befell the network many years ago and gave us one forgettable season of Men Behaving Badly before things got much better.
