U.S. taxpayers is this happening in your neck of the woods or is it here only?

I will definitely read the entire article, probably a couple of times, since I know there is so much more to this and a can of worms will spring open any day. I basically remember that when it all started to "formulate", meaning that they were pitching (no pun intended) the idea to the always gullible public, half of whom will not be able to go see one single game because Miami is made up mostly of retirees and the very poor, not counting the thousands on disability and an ever-increasing flow of immigrants from Latin America, which is non-stop!

I remember when the now recalled county mayor Carlos Alvarez and the very wealthy, former Elian Gonzalez attorney, former Miami mayor Manny Diaz and a whole bunch of politicians said it would cost $500 million dollars. But couple of months later they were saying that the retractable roof would be costing that much by itself, so I have no idea where the final price stands now. I do know that the taxpayers will be paying for most of it for decades to come, probably a couple of generations!

But if that wasn't enough and even though most stadiums around the nation are seeing a decrease in revenues as most other businesses in the U.S., well supposedly private and mysterious investors will be giving $87 million to rebuild or refurbish (can't remember which of the two), the Miami Jai Lai.....I doubt very much investors will be carrying all of the cost so Miami and Hialeah better be prepare to empty their pockets once more.

Is something similar going on in your area with your money?
