Compare and contrast America's prosperity during the fifties with that of America's other prosperous times (Gilded Age, Progressive Era, Twenties). How were the fifties different? Any SERIOUS answers would help, thanx!

One important difference was the lack of potectionist barriers as a freeier trade (not quite free trade either) developed with Japan and Europe.

I'd say less immigration as well and compared to the 19th cent and early 20th, lesser importance of foreign capital and greater reliance on domestic savings.

More intervention from the federal state too.

A lesser significance of the natural factor endowment (ie having coal mines was good but less so than able brains).
