For the puritans, colonization represented
A: an attempt to duplicate English society abroad
B: an opportunity to sever all ties with England
C: an attempt to provide England with a model of society based on scripture
D: an attempt to expand political and economical motives in the New world.

I am studying for a test so please explain why :) Wish me luck!

C:

They were escaping English Society, but still needed the "homeland" so A&B are wrong. And they were also getting away from the political and economic woes of England at that time.

The Puritans wanted a wholly religious society and believed that a "fresh start" in the colonies were their perfect opportunity.
