U of H - mathematics or biology major? Advice from College Students?

I live in Dallas & got accepted into both UTD & Baylor. I know they're both good schools & I'd be proud to attend either one. But after recently visiting my hometown (Houston), I realize how much happier I was there (having grown up there & having closer family there) so now I'm considering going to to college there.

My Major: Either mathematics or biology. I am very passionate about math, but I'm aware that there are far more specific opportunities with biology and I'm also interested in it; I'm also considering double-majoring. But I'm torn for now.

I've been looking at U Of H and it seems like an all-around good school. I haven't heard specifically about these 2 fields. How strong is U of H in mathematics and in biology/science? Compared to Baylor and UTD, is it much worse/better? Is there a better Houston school for these majors?

For those currently/formerly at a university, how important is it being far away from home? I am wondering if it will make much difference being so close or far from home since I will be studying hard/focusing on my work anyway. I'd really like to hear your opinion on this!

All 3 are in the top 10 list for TX colleges and I thought, hey, a degree is a degree is a degree. So is it THAT big a deal which one I choose? Please help! Thanks SO much!
