I admit it has been over a year since I've cleaned my fish tank. I cleaned it today and noticed tiny pink worms in the water. They're not there now I killed them out. I was just wondering what they could have been. They weren't mosquito larvae I know what they look like and the hasn't been any increase of insects around that I've noticed. I had been ocassionally feeding the fish a treat of frozen blood worms maybe that is what they could have been. If thats the case they won't be getting any more.

Before you start berating me for not caring for my fish know ahead of time that I don't care for them. But short of flushing them I have no way of getting rid of them. The pet stores won't take them back and I don't know anyone that will take them so I feed and kinda care for them till they die a natural death. So far it's been 6 years. I'm tired of fresh water and want to start a salt tank but can't do that till these fish die. In case your curious I have an upside down cat (6 years old), a rapheal cat (6 years old), 3 gourami (2 year olds), and a ? fish (at least 1 year old) I caught out of a creek (looks like a large guppie).
I have done a complete water change and boiled alll decor and gravel. Even steamed the tank (the steam also did wonders on the calcium build up). I checked the water my fish were in after putting them in their new tank and there were no worms. So they were living in the gravel not the surface water. I know salt tanks are more work and have had 4 years to plan. I took excelent care of my fresh tank when I cared for the fish. Although I am tired of my fish I don't want to kill them if I did I would toss their butts outside and let the stray cats have at. And your way too far for me I live in north Alabama.

Well I can't really make of anything about your pink worms left in the tank so....You are starting a salt-water tank? I know you'll know this but,PLAN AHEAD!!!! It's all I can say about that.People who rush into Salt-water tank and dealing with the Marine fish life and their surroundings is great yet hard to keep up unless you don't know what you're dealing with.

As for your fish I'd take them, but I'm in Minnesota and also I don't know where you are from.If anything and you want them gone just get some Clove Oil and submerge them in it and rock the thing back and forth til they sleep or stop moving....

they are probably parasitical ( is that a word?) worms, or parasites. you may not l;ike to hear this but to get rid of them you have to do a 100% water change or else they might kill your fish (maybe you would like to hear that)

one thing on the saltwater tank: they are a lot more work than freshwater tanks. just keep that in mind
