Okay all you experts I need some help here. I'm looking to purchase my first dirt bike. I work hard for my money so I need this to be the perfect choice. I'm not a poser like most of the girls out there so I want something that would make it up the sand dunes and hills at the Badlands. I’m still a starter, so I’m certainly not trying to pretend that I’m god’s gift. Basically I'm riding a Raptor 660 and feel like I’m comfortable enough to start learning jumps, BUT I’m really interested in learning to master a dirt bike.
I watch my man and his friends and I love how they rip roar around, however they are strong and tall enough to be able to handle such a machine. I'm 5' 4" 135pnds but certainly tough enough to at least try and keep up with the pack (granted I might find another way down some of the crazy dunes or hills, but I love the speed).
Anyway I want something that my feet can touch the ground without having to really lean too far to one side and light enough to feel safe. On the other hand I don’t want something all the 8 year old boys are riding. I'm not into showing off a sparkler, so looks don’t matter. I do want to stick with a Yamaha though and would maybe think about a Honda. Oh and I’m still a beginner so I don’t want to have to be standing there alone trying to get the baby started while everyone else is already on their way. I want something that gives me a little break on the shifting because to be honest I'm still learning and sometimes I like to stay in third gear and don’t want the thing dying every single minute.
So, I think this is enough information in order for someone to understand exactly what I’m looking for. Maybe you started out on a smaller bike and then traded up; let me know if you have anything in mind with you above characteristics.
I’m also looking for a used Raptor 700 and would trade Raptor 660 with upgrades plus throw in cash.
