TX will not sync calendar

Have a TX that has been syncing with Outlook calendar just fine for first couple weeks. Now suddently the sync manager keeps going in behind me and setting the calendar to do nothing. I change the setting, sync manager changes it back. Anyone else experienced this and found an answer?

I've seen this after attempting to set up Versamail for hot sync. There is a setting that sometimes goes awry and the only way I could clear it was to unistall and reinstall the software......blame Palm for a lousy conduit manager, IMHO.

What software am I reinstalling? I did recently setup my versamail account (about a week before this problem arose, so not sure if its the prob). when i reboot the pc, it usually straightens it out. anyway, hope it works. you're always a fountain of knowledge on these things.

The Palm Desktop software is what I was referring to and I should have been more clear in that.

What appears to be happening is that the Windows Registry has detected the change in sync to Versamail and if you have more than one user name for the computer the registry gets confused and loses the conduit for the calendar. When Versamail is setup to sync wirelessly or even sync to Outlook the Versamail (current version is rev C or higher) attempts to also sync the Calendar wirelessly and it will shut down the conduit.

It's the same on any device that Versamail rev. C comes on....in my case it's the Treo 650 and the exact same thing has been happening on my PC.

Now my PC has multiple user names. Sometimes the conduit would "shutdown" and I'd watch the sync not go through on the calendar portion. I even run Chapura Pocket Mirror and then thing would get overridden by the Palm conduit manager.

I unistalled the desktop. Reinstalled it (with admin rights) and then reinstalled Pocket Mirror Pro XT and it's resolved the issue.

I was going to confirm that the registry was the culprit but failed to properly make copies of the registry (before and after) to see what the actual "key" value was.

It's definitely linked to your temporary setup of Versamail because Versamail wants to sync both the email and the calendar and if you are syncing wirelessly it will provide you with a warning that states it will disable the Calendar conduit to avoid "duplicates" in the calendar from appearing.

So, unistall the Palm Desktop and then reboot your computer "twice" and then reinstall the palm desktop and don't forget to add any updates that you installed after the initial installation to maintain "current" status of where you are before the unistall.

But, if you setup or attempt to Setup Versamail again.....it will cause the same problem.

I'm not ready to blame Palm 100% for this issue because since M.S. is releasing so many security patches to XP....these could also be a root cause.

Mooseman, I did what you told me to do, and it is still refusing to sync my calendar. when i went through the installation process, there was a question about syncing all my old data that I wondered whether I should have checked yes, but I did. otherwise, I just went through the process and everything is exactly where it was, still not syncing calendar. any other ideas?

Mooseman, I've gone through the motions a half dozen times and got nowhere. I understand your silence on previous reply as indicating you are probably out of ideas, but i have a question about what you earlier wrote. Are you saying I need to choose between using versamail, and calendar on my palm? I sync my email accounts with wifi, not using my hot sync. so i dont care if i set my versamail account to do nothing. i cant not have a calendar on my palm, and the thing isnt worth it if i have to choose between email and calendar. i might as well get a different unit if thats the case. please respond as I'm close to the end of my 30 day return period. thanks again

I'm never out of ideas....sometimes just out of time as I've been travelling.

Ok, I need to see your hot sync log - so just give me the last sync not the whole log......

Mooseman, my most recent hotsync record.

I never assume anything on these boards anymore so apologies if this seems overly basic. Look at the attached screen shot (it's in png) and make certain that your "set to default" is checked after you've set up the hot sync for calendar to synchronize.

If it is and it continues to go in behind you and reconfigure - then I will be at a loss other than stating to see about hacking the registry to find the culprit. Sometimes when uninstalling the registry does not get fully cleared by the uninstall and that's where the culprit will lie.

You could unistall the Palm Desktop, then search the registry for anything Palm or Versamail or conduit and clean those in correct references....lots of work but probably the only sure fire way without checking with Palm and paying for their tech support and it probably wouldn't help anyway.
