TX or LifeDrive

I'm thinking of either buying the tx or lifedrive. I want to use it for mp3's and maybe movies aswell as general business and net use. I just wondering which one to get. The tx has great reviews while the lifedrive has some dodgy ones but the lifedrive has bigger memory and i will need that. I know i could get a SD card for the tx but it's going to cost. So i just wondered which one would be better to get?

I used a LD for about 45 days but kept my T5. I thought hey great, 4gb of music and or videos. Sure there was lag time with most apps but that wasn't the deciding factor.

Form factor and weight of the LD was why I got rid of it. The LD just doesn't fit into a pants pocket as comfortably as the T5 because of the weight. The LD is a brick.

I think that all other things aside - both will do what you want. I believe that in my mind - you need to decide solely based upon the form factor issue. If your going to carry it in your pocket - it's a TX. If your going to carry it in a brief case or purse - then it makes little difference. But then again if you want to use the device while working out and listening to music.....your back to the Tx.

The T|X is a good choice, from what I've read. You could get a 2GB SD card for the T|X. I think there's a 4GB card out now, but I'm not sure if the T|X would support it.

Steve, didn't mean to sound  so apologies offered.

Yes since it will support FAT32 - it should read a 4GB. But officially, Palm won't support any issue if a customer has a 4GB. And since we don't know the level of the original poster / thread starter - just wanted to be clear on that point.

If I still had a LD and had a need to carry around 8GB of stuff - then I'd probably get a 4GB card......if it didn't work for some unknown reason then I'd probably use it in my digital camera anyway.

It's interesting to note that Palm stated in the SD area to allow the LD to format the card rather so that it would sense it correctly. My guess is that it would format it as FAT32 - for obvious reasons.

You didnt sound mad to me my friend, no problems at all. I agree that Palm just wont take the responsibility but as we know, the 4Gb will almost certainly work fine...

Personally, I never believe Palm's pathetic, cowardly and innacurate information.

An example, on my Tungsten T3, I have been using a 1gb card for over a year. When I purchased the card, Palm Inc said that they were NOT supporting anything over 256mg. However, the SD card vendor did send me a link to a post which showed me how to re-format the 1gb card. No problems with my aDATA SD card since.

You are correct about FAT32 driver should support up to 32GB, which is the highest SD level that I have seen posted on the official SD standards site.
But with Palm, you never know. They might stick some propriatary item in the driver, or have a bug in it and then NOT send out a patch for it.

I am of the belief that Palm executive management is penny wise and dollar foolish and are totally out for their own personal profit and will strip whatever they can from the company.

I believe the future of Palm is certianly NOT Palm Inc, but is with ACCESS and their ownership of Palm OS. They should be the ones to respond and post patchs, etc to Palm OS to help us all.

I also am on the optomistic side knowing the Korean firm LG electronics that is coming on hot and heavy with very high quality and innovative product. Also great appliances. For example, I recently purchased a LG dishwasher that is of extreme quality. Get this, NO BELTS in it and nothing to purchase for ongoing maintenance.

LG's inventory is never the least expensive, but is always of the top edge of quality.
I am anxious to see what they do with Palm OS.

Jon
