TX Hotsyncing to Apple Mac apps

Excuse this possibly obvious question - am a newbie to Palms

I wish to sync my Calender and contacts etc from Palm TX with the standard Apple Mac iCal and Contacts data - is this possible ?? (pls say yes)

Have only had the TX a few days (Yup - xmas pressie - requested!) and have got both cable and Bluetooth connectivity working great but suspect standard Hotsync designed only to sync with PalmDesktop app data ???

Next option would be to export iCal and Contact data into PalmDesktop app - not ideal but a workaround.

Also have a Nokia N70 phone - this syncs with the apple data no problem - can the Palm sync direct with the Nokia N70 - ultimate aim is to sync contacts between Apple Macbook, Palm TX and Nokia then life will be geek heaven.

Lots of questions - any help appreciated.

I did some research before I got my Palm TX (also a Christmas present) and this is apparently what you need to properly sync your Palm with iCal and your Apple Address book, etc. https://www.markspace.com/missingsync_palmos.php

I purchased it and downloaded it but I am even more of a newbie than you, Dave, and I am still befuddled and terrified by my Palm TX. LOL. I have never owned a PDA and the fact that the manual alone is over 500 pages is giving me heart failure.

So I haven't actually done ANYTHING--I am pretty sure I am supposed to just install Missing Sync and bypass the Palm software entirely, but the tutorial is on the Palm Software as well at Hot Synch, and I am thinking I really NEED a tutorial...

It's gonna be a long road. But I would highly recommend the Missing Sync. Go check it out.

Here is the first paragraph of the Help file of the iSync program on my Mac OS X (Tiger). I think Panther also has iSync.
---------------------------------------

iSync Overview

iSync is synchronization software that helps you manage contact and calendar information on your Mac OS computer and devices, such as an iSync-compatible Bluetooth or USB mobile phone, a Palm OS device, or an iPod. (Note: If you're using iTunes 4.8 or later, you use iTunes, not iSync, to sync your iPod.)

I use a Mac but I don't use iCal so I don't use iSync, sorry.

Thanks guys - took your advice and checked out Missing Sync software - https://www.markspace.com/missingsync_palmos.php - within less than half an hour I had downloaded software, run it up, synchronized my contacts and calendar, mounted the device on mac desktop (very usefull) and had a coffee (had to make that myself though). Also tried the sync with iTunes - this looks fantastic - an unexpected bonus !!!
Have used the BlueTooth and cradle connections - next game is to get the Wifi conn going.

So far everything that the software claims has worked without any fuss - does wot it says on the tin - After years of fighting iPaq's with windoze pda software this was a very welcome return to reality.
:) :) :)

MissingSync will do the job, but for future reference, for those who may not want to spend the money, Missing Sync is not necessary.

All you need is the HotSync Manager software that comes with the Palm and the iSync software that comes with the Mac.

Good point.

I have taken a look at the standard iSync feature and this would certainly enable essential data to be shared between Mac and Palm without paying any more.

Being in the UK the price is good right now and the extra control and features of MissingSync are (for me) good value - as long as you use them which I will.

Am always nervous about 3rd party software but think on this occasion I have got lucky.
