Assuming your using Palm Desktop - one of the records has probably gotten corrupted as a result of the "eGremlins".
I'd try the following:
Export all of your Memos to a CSV file to your Windows desktop. Then delete your all of them from within the Palm Desktop. Then import back in from the CSV and set the hot sync so that the Desktop overwrites the handheld.
This process will work for most of the databases if you ever "hang". The process typically removes the corruption and then restores the data without much difficulty.
You might want to try the export with just one and then import it back in just to confirm how this process works before deleting the world.
