TX battery replaceable?

Is the TX battery replacable/removable?

The photos on the palm website show what appears to be a battery door underneath the speaker on the back of the unit.
 
Anybody know what that door looking thingie is on the back?

It looks like it could be good, and the price is right, but the battery thing bugs me.
 
I see. The photo on the Palm website didn't have the label - looked like a battery compartment.

Do you have a TX? Is it a good upgrade?
 
The T|X is a fantastic unit, I just updated last Friday from a T|E to a T|X and the T|X runs circles around the T|E. the wifi,bluetooth, larger screen 320x480, better sound,brighter screen,faster processor, more RAM, the list just goes on, but the T|X is worth upgrading to and you cant beat the price either $299 USD..........Rich
 
I really like the T/X; only had it about 6 days so far.

For me, over the last 7-8 years I went from "Day Timers" to a Sharp, to a HP Jonada, to a Handspring Visor Deluxe, to a HandEra 330 (based on a Palm III), and now a Palm T/X.

I'll give it up only when someone can pry it out of my cold dead fingers.....
 
Had mine 6 days too, I still dont regret buying it, I have no soft resets (well not too many), and my screen dosent whine, so I'm a happy camper...........Rich :D
 
Non user-serviable batteries seems to be the norm with consumer electronics now, iPod, most flash-based MP3 players, most recent PDAs, I only hope mobile phones aren't next! I agree that user serviable batteries should be a part of anything with a rechargable battery. That said most (if not all) rechargables are Lithium Ion (or better) which don't suffer from the dreaded memory effect.

My Zire71 (now upgraded to the TX :-D which, aside from a sync issue, I'm loving also!) had the non-replaceable battery thing and has suffered 3 years of my varying usage with no noticable effect on the battery.

I wouldn't worry too much about it any more. The fact of the matter is by the time the battery in the TX starts to die you'll more than likley have upgraded anyway! :-D
