Situation: A child falls ill with a long term and serious disease. Parents must relocate temporarily to another city for said child’s treatment and allows their other child to remain behind to go to school, stay in activities, sports, etc. Healthy child moves in with family friends and grows close to them. The child then declares she loves the other family more because they have spent more time with her then her real parents had. Child confesses that she wishes to remain with that other family when parents and sibling return. Other family does not mind and enjoys having that child about. Sibling is still ill, but treatments are over and will still need parents full attention. Wouldn’t it be best if the healthy child remained with the other family so her parents can be there at all times for the sick child?

From a parent’s POV, how would you feel about this?

As the ill sibling, how would this, if at all, affect you?

Serious answers only.
