Hey everyone!

I just thought I'd let everyone know about this cool new service been offered through Rogers, as I'm sure a few of you may want to take Rogers up on this new service. Have you ever wanted to have a second line, but didn't want to deal with all the headaches of having to buy another phone, sign a new contract?

Well, now you don't have too!! Rogers now lets you have two lines on one SIM card!! And for a limited time, they are waiving your $35.00 activation fee too!! The benefit of this is you can have two lines on the same phone, but have different profiles (ringtones, etc) for each line, plus it doesn't cost extra for Caller ID and Voicemail if you already have a value pack on your main line for this. When you receive a call, your phone will let you know which line the call is coming from.

The other cool feature of the this multi-line is the multi-line mailbox that you'll now have: when you receive a call, the call will go to your voicemail, but will have two mailboxes in one. You'll also have seperate greetings: one for business, one for personal (or whatever). AND no additional system access fee, 911 fee charged!!

Plans available for the 2nd line:
- $0.00: no minutes included, $0.20/minute for local and long-distance calls

- $10.00: 100 anytime minutes (local), $0.20/minute for additional local and long-distance calls

- $20.00: 200 weekday minutes, unlimited eve & wknd minutes, $0.20/minute for additional local and long-distance calls

Now, for the issues I had: I called in tonite, got it set up, thinking this was going to be easy... ha ha ha ha ha ha. Yeah, right. If only in a perfect world.

I got off the call, tried to call my voicemail: not working. Called in to Rogers, they said it got reset, as apart of the process to figure the multi-line mail box(which I wasn't told) and deleted any saved msgs. Thankfully I didn't have any. Told me to restart my phone.

So I did.

My Berry starts back up, working fine for Data and everything else, and I go check my phone option: two lines present, but Line 1 is my second line, and Line 2 says unknown. Oh oh. Called Rogers, they had no idea what I was talking about and was going to transfer me to tech and I hung up: tired of waiting on hold.

How to Fix:

Go to Options - Advanced Options - SIM Card

Highlight the 1st phone, should say TELEPHONE next to it - This is Line 1
- Menu - Edit SIM Phone Number, type in your number, Name it if you want
- Press Enter, or click the trackball

Do the same for UNKNOWN (type the second phone number in with +1, and name it)

Problem fixed. Now when you go the phone application, you can Go to the top and Highlight the TELEPHONE or whatever label you gave it, and switch lines!

Hope this helps others out, and enjoy!!

Great post Ive been using this service for a while now since what you forgot to mention is that the 2nd line can be from a total different area code.
I have a Ottawa number as well as a Montreal number going to my BB

No special SIM or anything. Too bad Tmo doesn't support it - its definitely a great feature to have. Although I ran into issues orginally, it was fixed.

Yep i'm loving every minute of it since i'm in Montreal a lot and people can call me without having to pay for long distance.

Umm it does require a newer sim if it is using a 3000 series sim it will not work or a 3030 some of the original 3040 might not work as well but they should. All the sim that are 4000 series will work for sure. This series of numbers is the middle four on the sim card if you are wondering what I am talking about it is digits 9-12.
