displacement...? two friends leave the same point and hike in different direction. The displacement component for the hiker are Ax=15km and Ay=-4km and for the other hiker Bx=2km and By=8km. determine the smallest angle between their paths.
 
A^2 = 15^2 + (-4)^2 = 241---> A= ?241 = 15.52
B^2 = 2^2 + 8^2 = 68 ---> B = v68 = 8.25

its resultan at the x axis ---> Rx = 15 + 2 = 17 km
Its resultan at the y axis ---> Ry = -4 + 8 = 4 km

R^2 = (Rx^2 + Ry^2)
R^2 =17^2+ 4^2 = 305

--> R^2 = A^2 + B^2 + 2*A*B* cos ?

305 = 241 + 68 + 2* 15.52*8.25* cos ?
305 =309 + 256.08* cos ?

cos ? = (305-309)/256.08 = -0.0156
? = arc cos ( -0.0156) = 89.11 ^o
