As a subscriber living in a "southern province", my BellTV account has happily resided at my brother's address for many years now, and his phone number has been the number listed on the account. Given my location, my single receiver has never been plugged into that phone line (or any other phone line!). However, everything has worked flawlessly for over 8 years, while my brother has obtained his TV from the local cable company.
Now, he's switching to HDTV, and is thinking of getting his own BellTV account, as Bell, he says, provides many more HD channels than his cable supplier.
The plan is for him to set up his own account under his name - but obviously located at his house, and using his phone number. He's wanting to take advantage of the new customer offers to get (presumably) free install, and a HD-PVR receiver. The PVR, I believe, will require use of the phone line. He will probably only get this one receiver - but at most, they will have two receivers, as its a small house.
My fear/questions are - what will happen to my account as a result of this? I know there are many of you who have multiple receivers with not all of the receivers plugged in the phone line. I also know that Bell's inquiries into unplugged receivers tends to happen for accounts with many receivers.
But will two separate accounts at the one address send up any warning flags? (Or will they be happy they're getting two fully-paid accounts at the one address, instead of just one??) Will the lack of my dish/receiver on my brother's house send up warning signals when the installer comes? (Or will they not check their databases and realize there is already a system "installed" at his house?) Or, if any questions are asked, do we just tell them my system is actually at our joint family cottage somewhere in the wilderness, and its billed to his address because I moved regularly?
Any advice would be most welcome!
Thanks
