MICROBLOGGING WEBSITE Twitter has announced a new feature called Custom Timelines, which allow users to curate lists of individual tweets around specific subjects.
Clearly looking to lure users away from Storify, a third-party service that allows users to save and organise tweets, Twitter's new Custom Timelines feature is available now through its Tweetdeck service, offering users a similar experience to the rival app.
Twitter said in a blog post, "Share the best tweets about a topic you care about, or an event - planned or unplanned - that's happening right now.
"Whether you want to collect the best tweets about a TV show or help people find the latest information about fast-moving real-time situations, custom timelines let you give everyone a place to follow along."
Fans of Netflix show House of Cards can, for example, put together a list of their favourite tweets about the Kevin Spacey political drama, with Twitter offering users the ability to drag and drop tweets into the list, name it, and share it with other Twitter users using its custom URL.
We created a custom timeline about the current bring your own device (BYOD) debate at The INQUIRER, which you can view by clicking on this link.
Twitter's new Custom Timelines feature also offers the ability for users to embed timelines, and to manually program the tweets that are added by using Twitter's new custom API, which it also announced on Wednesday.
The ability to create custom Timelines is rolling out gradually to users of Tweetdeck, and should be available to all of them within the next few days. µ
