Twilight Princess help

i didn't get a strategy guide today, and i am stuck on the noob village. where is the fishing rod? how do i get that monkey off of that rock? thanks
 
stand on one of the rocks a little ways away from the monkey... like next to the building. call down a hawk, and aim it at the monkey. then give the cradle back to the lady, she'll give you a fishing rod.... go down by the dock where the cat is and catch two fish, release the second one and the cat should get it and go back and buy the slingshot. you should be able to figure it out from there
 
yeah... i fucking spent so long trying to figure out what to do with the cat

the fact that the game doesn't really tell you what you are supposed to be doing kinda makes it harder, but i like it
