TV picture is cut off on sides?

I have a Samsung LN26A450 26-Inch 720p LCD tv. It was bought in January of 2009. I'm not sure if it's an HDTV because the box had nothing about HD on it, so I'm assuming it's not.

Sometimes, I notice the TV picture is cut off on the left and right sides.

Here's some screen caps to show what I mean:

http://i54.tinypic.com/15wt2r.jpg (what I should be seeing)
http://i54.tinypic.com/35jf2vc.jpg (what's missing)

I got the screen cap off of youtube because I really couldn't find a better quality version of that clip, but it still shows what I'm talking about pretty well.

Is there anything I can do about this that doesn't require buying a new TV? And I'm certain that none of the settings on my TV are jacked up. There's only 16:9, Zoom 1, Zoom 2, and 4:3, which is my current setting. Switching from 4:3 to 16:9 does nothing. All it does is stretch the picture out and makes things look distorted. Zoom 1 and Zoom 2 don't seem to be that much different from each other, except one is more zoomed in than the other. I don't know why anyone would want to watch their TV like that so I think the Zoom settings are useless. There are also two other settings, but I can't access them for some reason. I tried everything to access them, but I can't. They're called Wide Fit and Just Scan.

Other info I can provide that may help is that I'm with DirecTV and adjusting their display settings doesn't change anything. And that's about it. Thanks in advance for any useful help provided.
