Hi,
Just took an hour reading everything on this page and thank you Ranxoren for providing everyone with such an awesome loophole. I would give you credit for your work a million times if I could. You’re a crackberry god (although you don’t have one anymore)!
Anyways, this is what I've done. I have a new Blackberry 8820.
- Downloaded the Google apps (Gmail and maps) through my Wi-Fi connection (to save data)
- Downloaded Opera through the desktop installation
- Called Rogers and set up a 1.5MB regular data plan
- Set up Opera to start (as I needed a data connection to get it to start)
- Changed the TCP address and changed Opera to SOCKETS
- Set up Google apps to start working
- GTalk was pushed onto my books by Rogers, but I reinstalled it through the link on page 1
My next steps:
- Call Rogers and ask them to switch me to the $15 plan
- Change opera settings...and smile
Am I actually doing things right, or have I deviated too much? I just don't want to change my service books just in case I lose my Wi-Fi books if I do decide to follow it. My worry is that through downloading things through wifi, I might be doing something wrong.
