I turned on my E51 near my car a few weeks ago, and the very instant the screen lit up, all the buttons in the car popped up and lights flashed!
The car keys were in the front "Hand Warmer" pocket of my loose-fitting hoodie. The buttons on the FOB are recessed. Even if my some fluke a smaller key on the ring was pushed against the open button of the remote, I would have felt the pressure on my abdomen.
There's only one remote for the car, so unless someone went to the trouble to get a copy at the main dealer, it was an expensive prank to play. I tried to make it happen again, but couldn't recreate it....
Could the infrared PIR sensor on an outside halogen light have been involved as well somehow? What else could have caused this???
Any suggestions welcome
