turn volume in car up to a certain point then subwoofer turns off?

I have an Alpine Headset, 1000x1 alpine amp, and JL 13.5 W7 sub. The subwoofer is fine, and the amp has no bad fuses, and stays on (before and after the sub stops working) The ground cable is securely on the vehicle.. and looks like all wires on the amp are secure also. What else could there be!? thanks.
