Turn a Classic into a classic

Great thread. Man, long read, that took a while. Wish I'd found it before the pics were lost. (Hey, I'm new here.)
Need one with all the retro Deluxe/Heritage/Springers along for the ride.

Whiskers, nice bike. Once my wife sells one of her sportbikes I want to do a red/white '65 look alike on a Deluxe.
Something like leohd's "Ol Ruby" ...and ironically her name IS Ruby

bobros, the hard bags are a nice touch.

Here's a couple of my '01 RKC looking like a '58 Duoglide. '57 Chevy Tropical Turquoise and India Ivory.
I started out looking for a Teal/Birch White '01 and and had given up.
Decided to pick up a RK and paint it like Dad's old '58 FL when I came across this baby on ebay.
Called the owner and made the deal on the spot. Drove 600 mi to get it. Tickled silly.
Oh, and it has a 95" and Baker 6 speed to boot. I've made a few minor changes since the pics like retro mirrors and teardrop air cleaner/horn along with some chrome "parts" to replace chrome "covers". Flex exh headers may be next.

An example of the '58 it's supposed to mimic...

Here's an Evo that was on ebay a while back. Has the Panhead rockers mentioned earlier and also a timing cover.
Basically the look I want for Mama's future bike.

Razorback: Oooooooo! Your bike epitomizes what this thread is all about...and it just became one of my favorites. Beautiful colors and a great looking layout.

Ride safe.

razorback great taste and thanks for the compliment, ya have a real nice bike but your dads 58 blows away every bike on this forum!!!!!!!!!!

Dad's was a dresser and it's long gone but, that one is close. Got a pic around here somewhere. That was an ebay special that went for $10K this summer. Dad, 68, rides a 1200 Ninja nowdays. But it's still a "bagger".

Pop on the ZX12R

Only pic I have access to right now. Check the bike on the left.

razorback, the ol man looks great for 68, for your sake I hope its in the genes, 10k was a decent price for the 58, now if only I had whiskers luck and somebody offered me 23k for my bike, I'd replace it for 13k and get a panhead to boot. do you remember what the FAKE red&white pan went for?

Not sure. Guy had a starting bid of $8500, I don't remember a reserve, and he sold it early "at the current bid" to the second bidder. I'm guessing the bidder made a higher phone offer for a buy it now deal. That was one nice Evo. I just put the pics I saved in my album.

The real thing... Dude did a nice job.

I'm still searching for that 'perfect' nostalgic horn and I don't ever recall there being much of a discussion about them on this thread. Howards look good but you need to move and keep the stock cowbell for the compressor, Metalarts was a possibility but I'm not sure if they are still around, BJ's aren't, IMO, very nice looking, IMO and the Stebels and HD's dont' work for me and the Kury mounted behind the saddlebags defeats the whole purpose of having a trumpet horn. What has everyone else found in their endless search for the nostalgic horn? What about brass?
